Definitions
Devices that cannot be integrated in a computer and that can function independently: a hi-fi system with radio-cassette-CD, a combined DVD drive and video recorder, a combined DVD burner and video recorder, a portable radio-cassette recorder, a combined portable radio-cassette-CD device, a television containing a DVD-burner, a DVD recorder, a cassette deck, a video recorder, a CD burner, a MiniDisc burner, an audio CD to MiniDisc converter.
An integrated device has a system that combines a reproduction function for sound or audiovisual works with at least a receiving function for sound or audiovisual works or a function that offers the possibility of reading only media different from those used for the reproduction function of sound and audiovisual works and which is sold only as a single product. Integrated systems are made in one piece (block base) or consist of various elements that are sold only as a single product (element base).
These are devices such as a television, a hi-fi system, a combined DVD burner and video recorder, a multifunctional DVD home cinema system, a set-top box, a multimedia centre or those generally known as micro-systems, mini-systems, midi-systems, radio-recorders and TV-video combinations.

a digital decoder, equipped with a hard disk which enables recording and reproducing of protected works.
a device that consists of an integrated hard disk with its own case and all the connectors required to link up to any type of external device – within the domain of the information technology and/or the consumer electronics – including all the controls (or remote controls) to exploit its content to the user.
a device especially designed to record and reproduce sonic works which recognises the MP3 format. The supports can be incorporated permanently and can consist of different types (hard disks with different capacities, memory cards, etc.).
a device equipped with a colour screen specially designed to record and reproduce video and sonic works which recognises the MP4 format. It can also be equipped with additional functions.
an external memory unit that connects through a USB port onto which data can be copied and read to and from another medium an unlimited amount of times. Currently the storage capacity goes up to around 10 GB.
an external mini memory unit to record and read data. This card is employed with a large range of electronic devices, such as an MP3 player, PDA or smartphone. Currently the storage capacity goes up to around 10 GB.
a memory unit contained in its own case, which must be controlled by another device. This portable hard disk drive enables the user to record and read all data an unlimited amount of times. Currently the storage capacity varies from hundreds to thousands of GB.
a portable, multifunctional IT device with a screen between 6 and 14 inches (comparable to a page size A4 or smaller) that can be operated by the finger or with a pen, equipped with a flash memory, powered by a rechargeable battery and capable of accessing the Internet, Wi-Fi or a mobile network. The tablet operates without an integrated mechanical/physical keyboard, but a keyboard can be added or connected to this device and it can be equipped with one or more cameras (photo/video) and provided with connections for USB, memory cards, HDMI, headphones and a docking station.
